More Big Beautiful Backgrounds

Monday, September 14th, 2009

It’s time for round two of Big Beautiful Backgrounds!  Here are some of the latest and greatest from around the interwebs. This batch are all a little similar in the way that navigation and logos are layered over the photography on the right side, but each is unique in its own right.

Big Beautiful Backgrounds

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Gosh, we sure are lucky to be making websites for the world wide internets these days.  Not only do we have advanced CSS, widgets, and fancy javascript doohickeys, but we have an audience with broadband connections, modern browsers, higher screen resolutions and bigger monitors!  Which gives us all the reason in the world to design sites with BIG, BEAUTIFUL BACKGROUNDS.

No longer are we trapped by solid colors or boring repeating 1kb GIF backgrounds (not that people don’t do amazing things with simple backgrounds).  Now we can slap gigantic JPGs or PNGs (or SWFs) on our body tags or wrapper divs and get away with it.  And you don’t even have to be building a fancy artist site, either.

Desktop Background

Monday, October 20th, 2008

This Background was created using a Photoshop brush called “Fresh_Foliage_HighRes001″ from Designfruit . Many graphic designers create there own custom brushes and allow anyone to download, install and use these brushes as long as you follow some basic rule regarding the usage rights that the creator establishes. This artist specifically declares that these brushes aren’t to be used for designing work to be sold on stock photography sites. The idea behind this background I created (using this brush set) was to create an early evening sky with some graphics to frame the composition.

Portland Desktop Wallpapers

Here are a few more wallpapers! This time they are dedicated to Portland. These started out as an illustration of Big Pink and quickly turned into a cityscape. I hope to keep these evolving. What else should be present? I already got a suggestion to get B-Roy and Oden in there…

eROI Desktop Wallpapers

Well, in addition to the glowing eROI logo, I have created a new pattern that you can sprawl across your screen. I call it…Crowns Galore. Fairly simple design, but it is just another way to sport that eROI brand! Enjoy, and look for the new Portland wallpapers coming soon!
