Website Technologies, Idle Musings, and Cocktails

Jan 15 2010

In thinking about what key pieces of technology make up a great website, I went to my teammates to collaborate. When the team at eROI was asked “What piece of technology is strongly underutilized?”, I anticipated people to almost exclusively mention website-related technology. This is eROI – this is what we do; that seems like a logical assumption, right?

Boy, was I wrong. Although several website-related references were mentioned, it appears as if other pieces of technology are underutilized more and noticed more poignantly. These non-website items could use an upgrade according to my eROI cohorts. And, since random bits of fun are a cultural staple around here, I threw in a few other questions into the mix to keep us on our toes.

I’m curious to see what your take is on these three questions. How would you respond?

  1. What is the most underutilized piece of technology out there?
  2. If you have a half-hour to kill in between meetings, what do you do?
  3. What’s your favorite cocktail to make at home?

This is such an awesome post! For technology, I am loving all of the new image replacement typeface stuff that has been happening in the last couple years. I want to see more of that!

If I’ve got some spare time to kill I like to catch up on graphic design, interior design, and fashion blogs.

My favorite cocktail to make at home is champagne with Pama pomegranate liqueur.

I finally thought of my answer to your first question Mary! It only took me about 5 days to come up with it. The most underutilized technology (in the States anyway) is high speed rail! Yes, I am a total transit nerd. But think how wonderful life would be if we had a rail system like they have in Europe. You could go practically anywhere sans-car without having to rely on Greyhound or Amtrak (which just doesn’t go to enough places).

My answer probably wouldn’t have fit into your video. :)

    Great post by the way!

I soooo agree with you Jill. We really really need more high speed rail here!
